Ships Sailing this Route: You will find the related Hurtigruten atmosphere combined with a splash of luxury on board our two ships on the Astronomy Voyage:
MS Finnmarken: The ship is beautifully appointed and decorated in the Art Deco style that was fashionable when the first ship with this name was built. Rich colors, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation characteristic of the Art Deco style are found throughout the vessel. MS Finnmarken is also the only Hurtigruten ship with both a swimming pool and Jacuzzi on deck. A defining feature of the vessel is her bow, and from deck 5 you can venture to the very tip of the ship. University at sea (2018 & 2019). Passenger Capacity: 1.000
MS Trollfjord: The ship is named after the spectacular Trollfjord in Lofoten. Inside she provides spectacular comfort, modern facilities and interior design that makes extensive use of Norwegian wood and stone. The art exhibited aboard ship includes original paintings that were once on board the old Hurtigruten ship, MS Harald Jarl. MS Trollfjord´s sun deck and Jacuzzi are on deck 9. The ship´s spacious, two-storey panorama lounge is above the bow. Its wall-to-wall windows bathe the lounge in natural light and provide extraordinary views. University at sea (2018 & 2019). Continuing north you head for the medieval city of Trondheim, whose colourful history is reflected in its handsome civic architecture.

Day 6: The Northern Lights and The North Cape

Location: Honningsvåg

Following an early call at Hammerfest you arrive in Honningsvåg, the portal to the wonders of the spectacular North Cape (optional excursion).

Day 7: To The Top and Back Again

Location: Kirkenes

The vistas and sea life become more dramatic as you approach Kirkenes, just a few kilometres from the Russian border, and you can join one of our exciting excursions here. As you return south the northbound ports visited by night are now seen by day.

Hammerfest, the world's most northerly town is your first major stop, before continuing to Tromsø.

Passing through the legendary Lofoten Islands the ship negotiates an intricate network of inlets and isles. This is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Norwegian coast for many it is the most stunning part of your journey south.

Cross the Arctic Circle and sail past the famed peaks of the Seven Sisters as you enter a world of legends and folklore.
