Following this, you will spend the afternoon unwinding in the soothing waters of the Blue Lagoon.

Day 3 - South Iceland

Today you will experience plenty of the picturesque scenery of South Iceland. In the area situated by the foot of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, there are plenty of unique waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss is one of them, and if you're feeling brave (and waterproof) you can walk along the path behind the cascading sheets of water. Next is the Skógar Folk Museum, which details the history of early modern Iceland, characterized by the turf houses, and then on to Skógafoss waterfall for a lunch stop, one of Iceland's most photographed waterfalls.
There is the option after lunch to do a glacier hike on Sólheimajökull, which lasts approx. 3 hours and needs to be booked if you wish to go.
If you do not choose to do the glacier walk, then instead you will visit one of the most famous black sand beaches, Reynisfjara, where you can observe the unique sea cliffs, and the Dyrhólaey promontory. You will also get a chance to visit the charming local village of Vík.
The evening is taken up by another Northern Lights presentation, and hopefully some sightings of the dancing Northern Lights. Inquire at the hotel reception for the possibility of optional wake up calls if the Northern Lights are active.

Accommodation: Hotel Stracta in Hella. Breakfast included.

Driving distance: 200km / 124 miles

Day 4 - Golden Circle

The classic sights of Iceland, the Golden Circle, is on the agenda today! First you will learn about the Icelandic horse, a unique equine breed, with special qualities that make it suitable for both historic and modern day Vikings. Along with the presentation on this special horse, you will visit a geothermal greenhouse. Then the Golden Circle begins with the site of the geysers, the dormant Geysir, and his active 'younger brother' Strokkur. You will then travel a short distance to see Gullfoss, Iceland's famous double waterfall, which flows with icy, glacial water. The last stop for the afternoon is in Þingvellir National Park, where the first parliament was held, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will see the evidence of the mid-Atlantic Ridge, as the tectonic plates pull Iceland apart.
If the weather is good you may want to book an optional Northern Lights cruise for the evening.

Accommodation: Hótel Klettur. Breakfast included.
