The winter period from October to March is the best time to see the Northern Lights (aurora borealis). This is one of the great natural wonders of the world as the night sky lights up with continually changing patterns of iridescent color to produce a natural laser show. Day 1

Golden Circle area and/or Reykjavík

Pick up the rental car at the Keflavik International Airport. Drive to your accommodation in the Golden Circle Area or Reykjavik, depending on arrival times. Accommodation is in a double/twin room with private facilities,  including breakfast.

Driving distance: ca. 60 miles

Day 2

Golden Circle

You are ideally located for the Golden Circle Tour. Drive to Þingvellir National Park; continue to Gullfoss waterfalls and on to Geysir geo-thermal area. This is a great location for viewing the Northern lights (weather permitting) and if the Lights appear later in the night, the hotel receptionist will wake you up to see them (if you want).

Day 3

The South Coast area

Drive to Hveragerdi, see the Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss Gullfoss Winter 1 waterfalls; passing the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. Stay in the South Coast area. You can take a Super Jeep tour, a Glacier Hike or even a Northern Lights tour in the darkness.

Day 4

Reykjavík and the West or Reykjanes

Drive along the South to Reykjavik. Reykjavik is ideally situated to explore some great countryside and history, all within an easy drive of the city. In the south west visit Hvalfjordur and Borgarnes ; alternatively Krisuvik and Kleifarvatn in the Reykjanes area.

STAY LONGER AND EXPLORE ICELAND


The package is for 5 days and 4 nights. If you want to stay longer we can arrange additional nights accommodation at little extra cost. Please contact us and we will do our best to adapt this basic package so you get the holiday you want.

Daily Winter Departures.

Quality value packages: An accommodation in 3 or 4 star like hotels or special guesthouses. The Beds can be two twin beds or one Queen or King. En suite full bathrooms normally contain hairdryers, toiletries and towels. Bathrooms are fully equipped, either with a shower or a bathtub. WiFi internet is available in all hotels free of charge. Quality accommodation offers restaurant on site.  Possibility to upgrade to superior or deluxe rooms, when available.

Superior value packages: These are 4 star hotels (or upgrade to superior rooms or suits in 3 star hotels where 4 star is not available. Our choice of superior hotels around the country include, small boutique hotels and hotels with special atmosphere. All superior hotels have good restaurants and bars. Many offer their own spa facilities. Our superior hotels in the countryside are small and include elevators, bar service and restaurants or a nearby restaurant.
