Take an afternoon tour and visit the Golden Circle, which is famous for the geothermal Geyser area, The Gullfoss waterfalls and Þingvellir National Park, where the American and the Eurasian Tectonic Plates meet.  The Golden Circle is a fascinating experience. You can walk around the world-famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance. You can choose to do the Golden Circle tour in a Super Jeep and add on a snowmobile trip. You also stop by the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall and visit Þingvellir National Park, the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world, and where the Mid-Atlantic rift is clearly visible; a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates. In Thingvellir, you can stand on a bluff and see the Mid-Atlantic ridge as it carves its way north and east into the island’s interior.

In the Evening you go on a tour to hunt for the Northern Lights.

The highlights of this tour is the Hot spring Deildartunguhver, Reykholt a historic place where Snorri Sturluson author of the Sagas resided. Hraunfossar falls is a very special series of waterfalls pouring out of the lava. To crown the day you will be passing the magnificent crater Eldborg.

The Kirkjufell area is the first stop of the day. Then continue to the small villages of the area. Visit the black beaches at Djúpalónssandur and if you are up to it, there is a 30 minutes hike along the coachline.
One of the highlights of the tour is the Vatnshellir Cave. It is a beautiful cave that was only recently discovered.
You will continue your exploration of the area with views to the powerful Snæfellsjökull, which was the setting for Jules Verne´s Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
As Lonely Planet has chosen this destination to be one of the hottest for 2016, make sure you will be there before the crowds arrive. The best time is now.
You will arrive at Reykjavik late at night, and if you are still energetic after your powerful experience, hit the local bars and enjoy the night.
